Here stands the Presidential Palace, occupying the same site where Francisco Pizarro, the founder of Lima, once had his house. Next to it, the Municipality of Lima, adorned with symbols of Spanish heritage like the Habsburg's eagle. The majestic Cathedral, rebuilt after the 1940 earthquake, and the beautiful colonial balconies of the Archbishop's Palace surround this iconic plaza.
