Legend has it that the Tiger's Nest, also called Taktshang, was built on the very spot where Guru Rinpoche arrived flying, bringing Tantric Buddhism to Bhutan on the back of his beloved transformed into a tigress. Long before reaching the monastery, the path that leads to it will leave you in awe due to the colors of the forest intermingling with those of the faithful's prayer flags. A water mill with prayer cylinders and a bunch of monasteries will be your landscape during your ascent.

This monastery was built in the 17th century on the very spot where it is said that Guru Rinpoche, considered the Second Buddha in Bhutan and Tibet, meditated and achieved no less than eight incarnations.
