The first thing to know on a trip to Sinaia is that it is the monastery that gives the city its name and not the other way around, as usually happens. And it, in turn, takes its name from Mount Sinai. When it was built, it was designed to house twelve monks, no more, no less, emulating the twelve apostles. Today, the monks inhabiting it are thirteen. In the midst of a fairy tale forest, you can find the three castles of the city: Peles, which served as a royal summer residence during the 19th and 20th centuries, Foisor, and Pelisor.

In addition, the natural surroundings you will find on your trip to Sinaia are a true spectacle for the senses, with the Bucegi Natural Park crowning the city and leading into the Carpathian Mountains. For this reason and the good winter conditions, the ski resort in Sinaia is one of the most highly rated in all of Romania. North of the city, a few kilometers away, you can also see the Cantacuzino Castle, a replica of Peles. This elegant structure has become an indisputable symbol of the area.
